Here are our top 10 Search Engine Optimisation tips and techniques - for free!

These apply to Google, Yahoo, Bing and most of the major search engines and are brought to you by your professional SEO company in Brisbane, BlueBay Solutions.

Read these SEO Tips carefully as it may be the best 5 minutes you ever spent if you have been struggling to show up on the first page of Google.

  1. Find the Best Keywords For YOU
You should invest some resources into finding the best keywords; those that turn searches into purchases or leads. There are many tools available online to help you in your keyword research or we can do the research for you.
  2. Discover What Your Competitors are Doing
Knowing how many incoming links your competitors have and what sites those links are coming from, will give you a fantastic edge.
  3. Write Content That Cries Out To Be Shared and Linked To
Provide content that is meaningful and useful to your target market. This will encourage your visitors to organically link to your content or share your content on content sharing sharing sites such as Facebook, Twitter and Delicious.
  4. Optimise Your Page Titles and Meta Tags
HTML titles and meta tags should be different on every page of your website if you want most search engines to store and list them in their search results. Providing keyword rich and meaningful page titles allows people searching for your content to better indentify the content that is relevant to them.
  5. Optimise Your Page Headings and Subheadings
Headings play an important role in organising information, so be sure to include ONLY ONE H1 tag when assembling your page, and optionally using one or more subheadings (H2-H6). Your H1 tag should contain the most important keywords for that page.
  6. Use Title and ALT Attributes EVERY time
Using the title and alt attributes in your page code is a direct method of telling the search engines and the user more information about where a link will take them if they click through it. It also greatly increases your pages accessibility.
  7. Include Keywords In Your Page File Names
Whenever possible, you should save your images, media, and web pages with the keywords in the file names. This is becoming very important as more websites come online.
  8. Make Sure the Search Engines Know What Content to Index
Optimise your robots.txt file and re-direct duplicate content using 301 redirects.
  9. Provide Search Engines Static As Well As XML Site Maps
Since every page on your website will be linked to the site map, it allows webcrawlers (and users) to quickly and easily find content. Make sure these are always kept up to date.
  10. Use Checklists and Content and Code Validators
Validate your search engine optimisation, HTML, CSS and ensure that you have NO broken links or images.

If you just follow one of the SEO tips above, you will be better off than you were. Implement them all, and your website is well on the way to the first page in Google and you to becoming an SEO Guru!
